It’s interesting to note that, as of this writing, when you shift the language to Spanish on the St Josemaría iPhone App, you’d find new prayer cards that are not yet available in English.  Two are shared on the screenshots above:

• Prayer to St Josemaría for KIDS: Freelance translation: “O Jesus, You loved St Josemaría a lot, and together you did wonderful things: grant that I may learn to love You, and help me to be like You.  O Jesus, I would like to become better each day and to behave well at all times, even though at times this costs effort.  St Josemaría, you who are close to God and to the Virgin: tell them to help me.  I ask of you the following… (make your request here, and don’t forget your parents, brothers and sisters, friends, teachers…). (Pray the Hail Mary slowly…)
• the prayer to Pope John Paul II: O Blessed Trinity. We thank you for having graced the Church with Pope John Paul II and for allowing the tenderness of your Fatherly care, the glory of the cross of Christ, and the splendour of the Holy Spirit, to shine through him. Trusting fully in your infinite mercy and in the maternal intercession of Mary, he has given us a living image of Jesus the Good Shepherd, and has shown us that holiness is the necessary measure of ordinary Christian life and is the way of achieving eternal communion with you. Grant us, by his intercession, and according to your will, the graces we implore, hoping that he will soon be numbered among your saints. Amen.

Last April, we carried the news of the conversion to Catholicism of Prof. Hadley Arkes.  His Baptism sponsor, Michael Novak, composed a beautiful poetry entitled “They Recognized Him in the Breaking of the Bread” on the occasion of his conversion; we share it with you here:

In his letter for June 2010, the Prelate asks us to seek “Jesus in the Tabernacle—where he is truly present—and in our soul in grace. Let us try to find him also in the members of the Church, his Mystical Body, especially in the most disadvantaged: the sick, the poor…”.  Here are some of the many Eucharist-related prayers you’d find on the St Josemaría iPhone App:

“Putting Down Roots” is the exciting story of the beginnings of Opus Dei in the U.S. It tells how Fr. Joseph Muzquiz came to America in 1949 to begin Opus Dei with very little money and only a rudimentary command of the language. At the time, only a handful of Americans had ever heard of Opus Dei. But by the time he passed away in 1983, Opus Dei had put down deep roots in the U.S.

Today, many people in the United States and in other countries pray to Fr. Joseph, as he was called in this country, and hope that one day the Church will declare him a saint. (The image of his Prayer Card above is taken from the St Josemaria iPhone App: Opus Dei –> Prayer Cards.)

For those of you with an iPhone, you can now acquire the St. Josemaría App from the AppStore.   As of this writing, the app is on version 1.4.1.  One of the interesting aspects of the app is that it facilitates the fulfillment of the daily ‘Norms of Piety’. When you press on the ‘Daily Norms’ button, a ‘Norms Checklist’ opens up for you, where you can tick off on those you’ve done for the day

PENTECOST:  In the ‘Writings-Gospels’  section, you’d find all the works of the Founder, as well as Gospel Readings, a space where you can store the monthly letters of the Father, and other words addressed by the Opus Dei Founder.  The last prayer listed is the ‘Prayer to the Holy Spirit’:

“Come, O Holy Spirit! Enlighten my mind to know your commands; strengthen my heart against the snares of the enemy; inflame my will… I have heard your voice, and I don’t want to harden myself and resist, saying “Later…tomorrow.”  Nunc coepi! Now I begin! In case there is no tomorrow for me.

O Spirit of truth and wisdom, Spirit of understanding and counsel, Spirit of joy and peace! I want whatever you want, I want because you want, I want whatever you want, I want whenever you want.”
