Hey, Catholic blogger! :-)

Last 2 May 2011, a day after the Beatification of John Paul II, the Vatican met with a group of Catholic bloggers of all ages, that come from every corner of the world. The Pontifical Council in charge of communications accepted requests to attend, and chose 150 bloggers …

Said the Pontifical Council’s website: “Over 750 requests were made and a hard decision-making process had to be put in place to ensure, as much as is possible, a broad representation of the blogosphere. There are some famous bloggers and some new bloggers, some are institutional, others personal, some tell vocational stories and others comment on international news or local issues. Some are well-financed, most are run on a shoestring. It was touching being involved in your issues, from coping with death, to the joys of parenting, the hopefulness of youth, to fear of change, not to mention the many causes and campaigns promoted, particularly in the new evangelisation. “

Here’s a video on said Vatican meeting:

Rosa Cruz: joy amidst suffering

ROSALÍA CRUZ: A TESTIMONY OF SUFFERING AND HAPPINESS

Jesús Fonseca interviews Rosalía Cruz, Assistant Numerary of Opus Dei.

Rosa Cruz: “On August 16 I had a pain in my kidney. On the 17th, they found I had a urinary tract infection. This passed on to the blood and then to all of my vital organs. They asked my consent for what they were about to do to me; I said yes, and suddenly I found myself without a hand, without my right arm and without my legs.

Jesús Fonseca: “Good evening. Her name is Rosa Cruz. She is 67 years old, although she does not look it… I don’t know about you, but she leaves me baffled, specially when you say;’they asked me if I wanted them to go on with the operation and you said ‘Yes’. Well, I am too much of a coward, and not inclined to suffering-I wish I were-I would have said ‘No’. Me seeing myself like this, I would have said no.”

Rosa Cruz: “No, because you can still love without hands, and without feet. I love people a lot. And that is what’s important in life. No one is indifferent to me. I can find losts of enjoyment”.

JF: “I find enjoyment also, but I find it while I have the use of my hands and my feet. And I’ll tell you something else: You, who have spent the greater part of your life,- since you were 19 years old-working in household duties…”

RC: “Yes, it is a joy to serve others”.

JF: “Well, yes, it is a joy to serve others, ; but with your hands and with your feet. Look, Rosa, I do not understand that God, who is all-Wise, who is slow in wrath, and rich in mercy, and all those things how can he pull such a stunt on you? I can’t get it into my head!”

RC: “God has changed my life”.

“When I arrived home, my mom and dad didn’t know what to do with me. Now they wouldn’t know how to do without me!”
“The biggest treasure ever found.”
“When I grow up, I’ll be happy. What will you be?”
“Making other people better is not for everyone. Just for the best.”
“Just one of the family.”

Congratulations to the Down Syndrome Foundation Madrid, and to Pablo Herreros, for bringing these photos to the notice of our webmaster:
