New Evangelization
In his October 25 Angelus message, Benedict XVI has announced a new synod on the new evangelization. “The next General Assembly of the Synod of Bishops in 2012 will be devoted to the topic ‘The new evangelization for the transmission of the Christian faith’.
‘Evangelization’ refers to the effort to proclaim the Gospel to all peoples; the ‘new evangelization’, in John Paul II thought, is a response to new cultural realities and expresses a Pauline emphasis on inner conversion to Christ as a basis for outreach to others and to the wider culture.
The Motu proprio ‘Ubicumque et Semper’ mentioned, as a task of the newly created Pontifical Council for the Promotion of the New Evangelization, ‘to study and to encourage the use of modern forms of communication as instruments for the new evangelization.
In previous posts on this website, we’ve dealt with this topic, in the following articles:

On slideshare.net, we found pretty interesting digital evangelization-related slide presentations:

- Video-sharing to proclaim;
- A study that argues that the utilization of new media by the Catholic Church would seriously benefit Her catechetical, evangelical, and other communication efforts by providing easy-access, cost-effective, community-building resources.
We would like to ask you, dear reader, to share with us your ideas on how we Catholics can begin to carry out this new evangelization, especially through the use of modern forms of communication.
